Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.
Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet saved four early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
